Emily Vortherms (she/her) is a New York City-based filmmaker and storyteller with a passion for exploring the humor, heartbreak, and absurdity of human connection. With a BFA in Musical Theatre and a background in Intimacy Coordination, she approaches filmmaking with a deep understanding of emotional nuance, relationship dynamics, and trust-driven storytelling.
Her work spans indie film, theatre, and musical development, including contributions to critically acclaimed projects such as the Sundance 2024 selection Tendaberry and the SXSW-nominated short Dressed (Indie Memphis, Montclair). She has worked on a range of festival-recognized short films, including Frat Pie and Special Delivery (Palm Springs, HollyShorts). As an Operations and Communications Associate at the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT), she brings a unique perspective on narrative structure, artistic collaboration, and the evolving landscape of independent storytelling.
